In honor of Election Day, November 8, 2016, students around the LCC campus were asked, theoretically, which candidate would earn their vote. Many students have their own views and opinions on this topic.

We found that, as expected, students in the Democratic party opted for Hillary Clinton as our president.

“I voted for Hillary Clinton because I consider myself a Democrat; I believe in the same stuff that they believe in.” Senior Carly Scheufler said.

Clinton supporters, such as Junior Mackenzie Ulm, also believe that Hillary Clinton is right for America considering that she cares about the people in America.

“[Hillary] cares about the people and has a better temperament,” Ulm said.

In contrast, Trump supporters believe that he is more suitable for office when taking his beliefs and actions into consideration.

“Picking between the lesser of two evils, it’s someone who says mean things over someone who does bad things,” Senior Jackson Kurtis said. “I’m more conservative and [Trump’s] policies are more conservative leaning,” Kurtis said.

Junior Matt Leddy explained how he believes Clinton is not a trustworthy candidate.

“A lot of military families don’t believe in [Clinton] because of what happened in Benghazi and how she didn’t want to send help to soldiers fighting in Benghazi. Trump is more about America,” Leddy said.

Leddy also points out the prejudice opinions being publicized throughout the media.

“A lot of the news on social media is extremely biased. Trump knows what is right to do because he has been successful, and Hillary just cares about herself. It shouldn’t even be close right now.” Leddy said.

Despite most students on campus having a clear view of who would be beneficial in office, other students found it best to not vote at all.

“I probably wouldn’t vote at all.” Senior Nathaniel Prince said.

Gracie Lester went as far as to admit that both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are not fit for presidency; summing up this year’s election.

“I wouldn’t vote for either of them,” Lester said. “They’re both horrible people.”
