Teachers get up at the crack of dawn every day and go to school before most people even flutter an eye, grading papers all night and teaching hundreds of students during the day. These same teachers at times also have the responsibility of supporting their family and making time for their children. While on the other hand, football players live a life of leisure. According to Forbes, the average teacher makes $53,000 a year, just as Business Insider stated that an average NFL players makes around $1.9 million a year, that’s $24,000 a week. If someone throwing a ball around a field gets acknowledged more than someone who teaches the next generation of the world everything they need for life is acceptable, then there’s an obvious flaw with where the money goes and how it’s spent.

NFL players should get paid a lot less, and teachers should be paid a lot more for their services. While football may be interesting to watch, you don’t learn everyday life experience from watching people bash each other and throw a ball around. School may be a drag to go to everyday, but it helps you drastically in life when you graduate from high school or college. You use math and English in your everyday life, but football is not going to help you with those. The ones who taught you how to survive in the real world and use valuable skills for years deserve to get paid higher and get acknowledged more in the world.

Football players learn and show teamwork, but teachers also teach the life skill, as well as teaching accountability for work and pushing students to be better human beings. Not all kids have the advantage of two parents or a loving home, so teachers may be the only adult in a young person’s life who shows them support and gives them encouragement on a daily basis. This disparity in pay should embarrass us as a nation. In other countries, teachers are held in high regard, on the same level as doctors or lawyers, we should be the same.

Overall, the difference in pay from teacher to football player is unfair and the nation should take a stand to fix this and get teachers the recognition they deserve.
